Creating World Class IP with a small creative team
CDW Animations has been working collaboratively with Film and Game Studios creating content for many years. This masterclass will take you through one of their newest projects being developed for film and a game. Simon, along with some of his team with take you through how they have developed their pipeline from 2D to 3D through to finished animation and the innovations they have developed to bring this IP to life!



Simon Scales is both the founder and the director of CDW Studios – School of Visual Effects and Entertainment Design and CDW Animation. We are a small highly creative team with artists that have worked on some of the biggest projects all over the world.

Since opening its doors in 2011, Simon’s focus has been to create a world class level of education facility based in Australia. He has facilitated many master classes with some of the most well known artists in the entertainment industry coming out to Australia and sharing their wealth of information with students.


Alex has been working with 3D for 10 years. He has worked on several Childrens animated television shows and Movies.

He has a keen interest in sculpting characters and faces as well as an interest in Game engines and real time rendering. At CDW Studios Alex has taught students how to Sculpt, Model and Texture a variety of both real and stylised characters and props for use in Feature Film and Video games. As well as showing students how to use the UE4 Game Engine.


Ned Rogers is an Adelaide based concept artist and designer who has worked across TV, Games and Film for the last 8 years with clients such as Hasbro, RSA, Illfonic and Legendary

With a focus on creating strong narrative threads in his work Ned uses 2d and 3d workflows to achieve flexible, high quality visuals across environment, key frame and mechanical designs.

Ned is currently working with Flying Bark in Sydney on an unannounced project and is also a Senior Instructor with CDW Studios in Adelaide teaching environment and mechanical design classes.
